Not only does Grindr allow photo sharing and chat messaging, but you can also share video messages to other profiles and video call one another. Both features will require your permission for Grindr to access your camera and microphone.
Sending a video message
You can send other users video messages that are up to 15 seconds in length.
Free users may send 10 video messages a day. XTRA users may send 30 video messages a day, and Unlimited users may send 100 video messages a day.
Here's how to send a video message:
- Select a profile you'd like to video message.
- From the chat interface, select the camera icon below the text box.
- Select the video icon.
- Select Record video, and then start recording.
After you've recorded, you'll have the option to send the video as a looped clip. You can set a video message to play only once after opened, or allow the recipient to replay it. You can also enable/disable the video sound.
Starting a video call
After you've messaged with another user, you can initiate a video call with them.
Free users have 1 minute of video chatting available to them per day. XTRA users have 300 minutes of video chatting per month, and Unlimited users have 1,000 video chatting minutes per month.
Here's how to start a video call:
- Select a profile you'd like to call.
- From the chat interface, select the camera icon below the text box.
- Select the video icon.
- Select Call to start a video call.
The profile you are calling needs to be online for video messaging to work.
Video safety
We work to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to capture content on Grindr. That said, it’s important to keep in mind that bad actors may find creative ways to screenshot private content (such as using an additional device to take a photo of a device displaying private content, or via third-party recording tools installed on their device). We ask that you please remain aware of this possibility when sharing private content on Grindr.
