What are Discreet posts in Right Now?
Discreet posts let you participate in Right Now without showing your Grindr profile. When you choose the Discreet option, you can still share a status and photo, but other users won’t be able to tap through to your profile from that post.
Your profile is only revealed if you approve a chat request.This option is designed to help people feel more comfortable joining Right Now while maintaining their privacy.
How do I enable Discreet posts?
You can turn on Discreet when creating a Right Now post.
To enable Discreet:
- Navigate to Right Now
- Tap to create a new post
- Enter your status and add a photo (optional but encouraged)
- Select the Discreet option before posting
- Post as usual
Once enabled, your post will appear in Right Now without being linked to your profile.
How do Discreet posts work?
When you create a post in Right Now, you’ll see the option to post as Discreet.
With a Discreet post:
- Your post is not linked to your Grindr profile
- Your profile does not show that you’ve posted in Right Now
- Other users cannot open your profile from the post
Also, instead of receiving direct messages, Discreet posts use a request-to-chat flow.
If someone is interested in your Discreet post:
- They can send a request to chat
- You can choose whether to accept or decline the request
- If you accept, a chat will start from your Grindr profile
Keep in mind that Discreet only applies to the post itself. Your Grindr profile is always used when chatting or viewing profiles.
Does Discreet mean I’m anonymous?
No. Discreet does not mean anonymous.

Who can see Discreet posts?
Anyone browsing the Right Now feed or map may see Discreet posts, just like regular Right Now posts.

Yes. All Discreet posts can still be reported and reviewed.

Why am I seeing more chat requests instead of messages?
For Discreet posts, chat requests replace direct inbound messages. This gives you more control over who you choose to chat with.
