Reporting
If you encounter behavior that breaches our Community Guidelines, we strongly encourage you to report it to us. All member reports are sent to our moderation team for evaluation. Keep in mind that reporting a profile does not block it, make sure you hit the Block button if you no longer wish to see (or be seen by) someone.
Reporting a profile
Here are the quick steps you can follow when reporting:
- Select the profile of the user you'd like to block.
- You'll see the block icon in the top-left corner of the profile.
- You will see a pop-up menu - choose Report.
- Once you have selected the report, the following menu will appear (choose the category that best fits your situation):
- Illegal Activity - sale & promotion of drugs; trafficking, etc.
- Spam
- Harassment or Bullying
- Hate Speech/Discrimination
- Nudity or Pornography
- Underage - report ALL underage individuals on Grindr.
- Impersonation - if anyone is pretending to be you or someone you know.
- Once you have selected the category - tap Next.
- Tell Us What Happened to go to the next page, where you can provide any details you think would help us with the report.
- Next, let us know where the offense occurred (select all that apply):
- Profile Photo
- Profile Information
- Chat Message
- Album content
- Depending on your choice, we'll ask you if you'd like to include your last 30 chats with the person you are reporting.
- Last (but not least) you'll have the chance to review your report.
-
After hitting Submit, you will see a new window with a message thanking you for your report. Make sure you read the information displayed on the page.

Reporting users who have blocked you
Note: this feature is currently only available in select locations.
After you’ve been blocked by another Grindr user, you’ll have no way of seeing or contacting that profile again. However, we understand that sometimes, users who have abused our rules will block you before you’re able to report them. In these cases, follow the steps below to report users who violated our guidelines before blocking you:
- Head to your Settings.
- Select “Report a Recent Chat”. Here, you’ll see a complete list of your chats from the past 24 hours, regardless of whether these users have blocked you or not. For privacy reasons, these profiles will all be listed as “Grindr User,” and their profile images will all be blurred.
- Find the profile you’d like to report, based on where they last appeared in your inbox (these profiles will be listed in descending chronological order from your latest chat with them).
- Tap on the profile to reach the standard reporting flow, as detailed in this article above.
Please keep in mind that being blocked is not a valid reportable offense on its own. We ask that you use this feature responsibly.
Blocking
Reporting a profile does not also block it. Make sure you hit the block button if you no longer wish to see (or be seen by) someone else. Once you block another profile, this person will no longer see you on the app, and all chats with them will be removed from your inbox.
To block a specific person:
- Select the profile of the user you'd like to block.
- You'll see the block icon in the top-left corner of the profile.
- You will see a pop-up menu - choose Block.
- Another pop-up menu will appear and ask if you are sure you want to block this person - choose Yes to block them.
Unblocking profiles
You can unblock users you've previously blocked at any time. To do so:
- Select on your Profile.
- Select on Settings.
- Scroll down to the Security & Privacy section.
- Select Unblock Users.
- Select the user you'd like to unblock.
- Hit OK in the confirmation screen to unblock.
