Self Assessment Ranking
Under the Australian Voluntary Code for Online Dating Services, each dating service is required to complete a self-assessment outlining how it complies with the Code’s online safety standards. This self-assessment results in a compliance rating of Tier One, Two, or Three, which is then published on the platform (as shown here).
The rating is verified by the Code Oversight Body, which also manages the process through an independent Code Compliance Committee responsible for reviewing any disputes related to the self-assessments.
The rankings are categorised as follows:
- Tier One indicates that the service meets all the Code's requirements and demonstrates full alignment with the Safety by Design principles.
- Tier Two reflects services that comply with the Code and are substantially aligned with the Safety by Design principles.
- Tier Three is assigned when a service partially complies or has not yet met one or more of the Code’s key requirements.
Grindr has been assessed as a Tier 2 platform under the Australian Online Dating Code of Practice. We remain committed to user safety and are continually working to strengthen our practices in line with the Code’s standards and principles.
