Troubleshooting checklist
We recommend you start here, checking off each point on this list in order:
- Check if you are using the latest version of the Grindr app.
- Make sure you aren’t in a region where Grindr is blocked due to government restrictions
- If you're using a VPN, try turning it off, and opening the app again.
- Test your cellular network and/or wifi connections.
- Remember that your login is case-sensitive -- try entering your email address with lowercase letters, and be careful of using similar passwords that you've used for sites and applications.
- Try logging into one of your previous accounts, or creating a profile under a new email address. If you want to use the same credentials for a new account, you'll need to delete one of your old accounts.
- Also, remember that third-party accounts are separate from accounts created via an email address. You must log in with the same method that you used to create your account.
- Try restarting your device, or force-stopping or force-closing the app.
- Wait 30 minutes and try again (we all know how technology can be!)
Third-party login troubleshooting
If you’re logging in with a third-party (ie, with a Facebook, Google account, or with an Apple ID) ensure that you are using the same login credentials that you used when creating the account.

Device-specific login troubleshooting
If you’re logging in on an Apple device, remember that you can use fingerprint identification, facial recognition or your Apple ID credentials to log in.
If you’re logging in on an Android device, don’t use a secure folder, as this could lead to Grindr being hauled when opening. Grindr needs to be in an open folder on your device to work effectively.
iOS: Apple ID login
With an iOS login, you can use you fingerprint identification, facial recognition our your Apple ID.
- Make sure that Touch ID or Face ID is active depending on your device.
- If Touch ID or Face ID does NOT work, enter your Apple ID login details manually.
- Check that ALL login details are correct.
- If that fails, then try Force Closing your Grindr app and reopening it.
If none of these steps work we advise you to change your Apple ID password by doing the following:
- Select your device Settings.
- At the top you'll see your Apple ID name - Select your name.
- Select Password & Security.
- Select Change Password.
- Enter your current password or device passcode, then enter a new password and confirm the new password.
- Tap Change.
- Try signing back in with your new password.
Android: Google ID login
- Check that your login details are all correct.
- Try changing your password.
- Force Stop the app on your device and then reopen it.
- Clear your Grindr storage.
