Chat messages and thread deletion
You can delete any message or chat thread with anyone you've been chatting to. More information on this feature is available here.
Deleting your profile
Click here for instructions on how to delete your profile. Please note that a profile is unable to be recovered after deletion as this is a permanent action.
Per our privacy policy, all Grindr accounts with no login activity from the past two years will be automatically deleted.
Though we’re unable to reinstate deleted accounts, feel free to create a new account with your previous login credentials.
Expiring photos
You can send photos that expire after 1 view and that last for 10 seconds. More information on this feature is available here.
Logging out
You can log out of the Grindr app at any time. More information on how to log out is available here.
Photo deletion from “My Photos”
You can delete photos from your “My Photos” list. More information on this is available here.
Tap deletion
You can delete taps you’ve received from other users. More information on this feature is available here.
Understanding your profile settings

Understanding "Display Preferences" settings
When we talk about display preferences, we mean the following:
- Show Me in Explore Searches- you can choose not to be found via Explore searches, which allow people who aren’t nearby to browse your area. More information on how to do this is available here.
- Show Distance - you can choose to hide your distance in your profile and grid. More information on distance settings is available here.
Understanding "Security and Privacy" settings
All users have access to several privacy-enhancing features through the “Security and Privacy” menu found in the app “Settings”, including:
- Discreet App Icon (DAI) - this feature allows you to select how you would like the Grindr app icon to appear on your mobile device. More information on this feature is available here.
- PIN - this feature allows you to set up a personal identification number (PIN). More information on how to set up your PIN is available here.
- Unblock Users - this feature allows you to unblock users you’ve previously blocked. More information on this is available here.
