Your profile is your first impression! This article outlines the various profile fields available for you to complete. Each field is optional, but we find that more complete profiles usually gain the most attention.
Basics
To edit your profile information, log in, tap on your profile, and select Edit Profile.
The first section you’ll see is Basics, where you can create a Display Name and write a brief description in About Me.
- Display Name can include letters, numbers, special characters, and emojis, and must be between 0–15 characters.
- About Me allows 0–225 characters, including special characters and emojis.
Stats
All fields in the Stats section are optional. You’re in control of what you share.
- Show Age: Toggle this on or off to display your age
- Age
- Height
- Weight
- Body Type (Toned, Average, Slim, Muscular, Large): choose Do Not Show to keep this private
- Position (Top, Vers, Bottom, Side — aka no penetration): choose Do Not Show if you’d like this to remain anonymous
- Ethnicity: Indicates your racial identity (e.g. Asian, Black, Mixed, Caucasian, Latino, etc.)
- Relationship Status: Indicates what type of relationship you’re in (e.g. single, dating, partnered, open relationship, etc.)
- My Tribes: Tribes are sub-communities people identify with based on presentation (e.g. Bear, Daddy, Discreet, Rugged, Twink, Geek, etc.)
Preferences
The Preferences section helps others understand who you’re interested in and how you like to connect on Grindr.
Tribes I’m Into
Tribes I’m Into lets you select the sub-communities you’re interested in engaging with. This is similar to My Tribes, but instead of how you identify, it reflects who you’re into.
- You can select up to 3 tribes
- These selections appear above “I’m Looking For” on your profile
- Examples include Bear, Daddy, Geek, Rugged, Twink, and more
I’m Looking For
The I’m Looking For field lets others know what types of connections you’re open to. You can select one or multiple options:
- Chat
- Dates
- Friends
- Networking
- Relationship
- Hookups
Meet At
This field allows you to specify where you prefer to meet others. Many people use it to indicate whether they can host.
To update Meet At:
- Scroll to the Preferences section
- Select Meet At
- Choose one or more options:
- My Place (you prefer to host)
- Your Place (you prefer to be hosted)
- Bar
- Coffee Shop
- Restaurant
- Select Done, then Save
Accepting NSFW Pics
NSFW stands for Not Safe For Work. This field lets others know what kind of messages you’re open to receiving.
To update Accepting NSFW Pics:
- Scroll to the Preferences section
- Select Accepts NSFW Pics
- Choose one option:
- Do Not Show
- Never
- Not At First
- Yes Please
- Select Done, then Save
Identity
This section lets you share how you identify. Sharing your gender identity and pronouns helps everyone feel seen, respected, and affirmed.
We’ve built a comprehensive list of identities, which you can learn more about in our blog post. We also offer non-gendered pronoun options for languages without gendered pronouns. If you have a suggestion, you can submit it from the respective selection screen.

The Health section lets you share information about your health, including sexual health and vaccination status. All disclosure is optional. You can learn more in our Health Information Privacy policy.
Sexual Health
You can share as much or as little as you’d like using the following fields:
- HIV Status
- Last Tested Date
- Testing Reminders
- Sexual Health FAQ
Vaccinations
You can optionally share your self-reported vaccination status for:
- Mpox
- COVID-19
- Meningitis
Social Links
Social links let you personalize your profile by adding other platforms. If shared, other users can tap your links directly from your profile.
Available options:
- Spotify (share your favorite music)
