Sexually active gay, bi and trans men who are HIV-negative should get tested every three months. If you're in the US, click here to find where you can get a test near you. While you’re at it, get an STD test too. If you’re in the US, you may be able to order a free home test kit here. Some tests may not show you’re positive until 10 days to three months after you’re infected; however, you can still transmit the virus during that time.
