Explore & Filter Search are designed to help you find more of the profiles you're looking for. In this article you will find:
Explore
With Explore, you can view profiles in other parts of the world. You'll find Explore at the top of your grid after logging into the app.
You can opt-in or -out of appearing in other people's Explore searches. Here's how:
- Select your Profile icon.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll down and select 'Show Me'.
- Tap on the toggle for "Show Me in Explore Searches".
Premium subscribers are able to send messages and taps to other profiles they've found using Explore. Free users can contact up to three profiles they've found using Explore per day.
Filter search
Filters are series of options that you can edit to narrow down your search into what you’re looking for and who you’re looking to meet. Grindr offers three standard filters, and a number of Advanced Filters only available for XTRA and Unlimited members.
Here are the standard filters:
- Age: filter to view profiles within a four-year age range.
- Looking For: select to view individuals who have similar expectations as you.
- Tribes: tribes are labels of people based on key physical or lifestyle characteristics (Ex. daddy, twink, clean-cut, discreet, leather, etc.)
Setting your filters
Here at the 3 simple steps, you need to know to set your filters:
- Log into your Grindr Profile.
- Select the filter icon in the top-right corner.
- Select which filters you’d like to set.
"No Results" Or "Don't Be Shy, Say Hi" message
Sometimes your interactions with other people may be hidden due to filters. You can turn filters ON or OFF in your main chat view.
If the chat window looks empty and shows a "No Results" (Apple iOS) or "Don't Be Shy, Say Hi" (Android) message in the background, your messages may be filtered.
Apple iOS
- Select the Filters icon in the top-right corner of the home page.
- Select the filters you want to turn on or off.
- Favorites: will only show your messages from Favorite contacts.
- Unread: will only show your new messages.
- Filters will highlight when ON ✓
Android
- Tap on the upper button displaying the Filter Icon.
- Select the filters you want to turn on or off.
- Favorites: will only show your messages from Favorite contacts.
- Unread: will only show your new messages.
- Filters will highlight when ON ✓
